Literary Terms

Epigram: An epigram is a brief, interesting, memorable, and sometimes surprising or satirical statement.

Epigrams usually appear in poetry, but sometimes not. Some epigrams are like oxymorons where there are 2 words that contradict eachother together.

Examples:

"To see a world in a grain of sand,
And a heaven in a wild flower,
Hold infinity in the palm of your hand,
And eternity in an hour"

"Both robbed of air, we both lie in one ground,
Both whom one fire had burnt, one water drowned"

"Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker."
